Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • 1 package oven-ready gluten-free lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the cooked beef. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are soft and translucent.

  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  5. While the sauce is simmering, prepare your baking dish. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.

  6. Place a layer of oven-ready gluten-free lasagna noodles over the sauce, covering the bottom of the dish.

  7. Spoon a layer of meat sauce over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.

  8. Repeat the layers - noodles, meat sauce, and cheeses - until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.

  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes.

  10. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  11. Once baked, let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

  12. Garnish with freshly chopped basil leaves before serving for a burst of flavor.
